WRTC Health Department - Foot Care Services
Purpose
To improve the health status and quality of life of diabetic clients through early intervention and treatment.
Goals
To reduce the number of amputations associated with the complications of diabetes.
Objectives
•To prevent/reduce the complications associated with diabetes through assessment and treatment.
•To increase knowledge and awareness of the complications of diabetes.
Activities
•Basic foot and lower limb assessment process.
•Nail care, which includes management of ingrown nails.
•Basic wound assessment and management.
•Basic footwear assessment.
•Callus reduction.
•Basic education and promotion of Foot Care practices.
